Who am I?
Hi, my name is Karin and I “run” Mountains-Bikes.com. Biking is a passion of mine, and mountain biking even more so! I started this site recently to while away the hours while I lie here in bed with a fractured fibula.
And no, it wasn’t from falling off my bike! That would be too poetic and lame. It happened while skiing.
What’s this website all about?
Enough about me. You’re probably wondering about the name of the site. Mountains Bikes isn’t very good English. But all the good ones were taken! What’s a girl to do? The internet has been around for a long time now, and I knew I wanted the name to be “mountain bikey” and it had to be a .com (we’ll come to that shortly). I played around with the idea of putting an apostrophe between the “n” and “s”, and developing a tiny little mountain mascot. So basically the little mountain thing, we’ll call him Hilly, would be the owner of the site, and I just worked for him. But my good sense got the better of me and put a stop to that ridiculous train of thought. So, that leaves us with a difficult to pronounce, poorly written website name. By the way, if you own mountainbikes.com and are sick of it, and want to do something really nice for a girl with a broken leg… hi hi
What can I do here?
I promised to explain my reasoning for choosing a .com. As you already know, the main reason for this site is the blog. My ramblings about what I love the most, mountain biking. Read, comment, complain, laugh, cry and tell your friends all about it.
With the help of a geeky friend I (we’ve) installed a shopping section to the blog (he likes to be called a geek. really!) This is basically where I try to find really cool equipment and bikes and run my dream bike store! Some day I might see that dream come true. But you don’t meet too many millionaire bachelors
way up high in the mountains. So have a look around the shop, and don’t be surprised when I enlist the help of my big brother eBay to do the heavy lifting. I’m just the salesgirl
Now what?
Now what?! You’re still reading? Well get out there! Get on your virtual bike and pedal around my site! That’s pretty cheesy, huh? If you have any questions or suggestions about my site, email me at karin@mountains-bikes.com. See ya!
